there's never enough of it

i've been trying to be a better time-manager in my studio, and trying to work more "regular hours". it's so easy to get caught up in a project, and then turn around only to discover that it's dark outside! just yesterday when i looked up at the clock, i was horrified to see that my "work day" had come to an end.....already! i still had four projects that needed to be finished!
so, here's what i'm wondering....what's your secret to managing your studio time?
and....does anyone have a couple of hours i can borrow?!
(disclaimer: i may not be able to return them any time soon!)

  1. I have the exact same question and the same request for a spare couple of hours!

I was talking about this problem with my Love and he pointed out that I was focusing on what I hadn't done, rather than what I had done. My achievements were getting lost beneath my (perceived) non-achievements. Ive got to realistically consider what is possible in a day and make my to list each day shorter. I'll still get the same amount of work done but I will perceive more achievement. That's the theory any way - now for the practice!

  2. this is indeed a struggle except for me I tend to lose time int 'must do' projects and don't find enough time to be in the studio...I have to make art a 'must do'!!!

Time just melts into a blur. What is time? Must be so good to consentrate on something else so much we actually forget ourself! Timeout!
Thank you for your lovely comment.

  5. Hi Sweetie! I have absolutely no good advice in this department! I feel like I run around like a crazy lady all the time, and I'm up until all hours trying to stitch!...BUT... I'd most definitely share my crazy houred crafting time with you...how much do you want? Just say the magic number and during that time, I'll have some coffee and a good read! ;) Hugs, Paulette

  6. Oh I've got plenty of advice, but remember, I'm the one with STS (Spinning Top Syndrome). And I've been diagnosed with PP, too. Productive Procrastination. IYIYI, I think wishing for more time is never-ending. How did those dang people in colonial days get so much done: Print a newspaper, write loooong letters, discover electricity, found a country (not to mention those little time-consuming affairs Ben had)? It's a mystery. I think Veronica's Love has the best idea.
I guess it's better than being bored :).

  7. As if I didn't write enough the first time, I forgot one thing. Yesterday, I instituted a "Stand Up or Set the Timer!" rule at the computer. Need I say more...?!

  8. Your clock shows my favorite time of the day. This is when my work day ends and my art time begins. No wonder why the housework never gets done!

  9. Hi Lori! You are the cutest ever! If I had extra time to spare, I would gladly share. I always feel the same at the end of the day. Where does it all go?

It's always a sweet blessing to receive a visit from you! Your comments are more touching each time. Thanks so much for just being you!

    Big Hugs,
    Lisa :)

  11. Unfortunately I have not been finding much of any time lately to spend in my craft room. That is truly why I look so forward to the weekends! I've actually been trying to do some crafting in my music studio during the workday in spare time. I come up with some pretty interesting things only having old magazines, glue sticks, scissors and crayons :)

  12. it's not foolproof, but i work with very limited amounts of time (i have little kids) and an unexpected benefit to this is that i seem to work more effectively within those small chunks of time. something about that pressure pushes stuff out that wouldn't materialize otherwise.

  13. Lori...it seems to be a problem for me too. I will be working and I look up at the clock and it is hours later than I thought. Have you ever felt that feeling of totally blocking out everything but your art??? You are working on something and you aren't aware of anything going on around you? I usually have the radio on...nice soft rock music, and start working on something I am excited about. Next thing I know...it is five o'clock....It is nice place to be..on the creative side and in the zone!!!

  16. Sometimes when it starts to feel like it's too much, stepping away can do wonders. Taking regular breaks usually helps to ease the "I gotta do it now" stress. I find that temporarily doing nothing sometimes accomplishes more.

  17. Hah! Sorry, but I really would like someone to give me more time so I have none to pass on.
However, I did see a clock on a few blogger sites that have 14 hours to them. ;-)

    That may not help either...

  18. Hi, Lori, I am getting "caught up" on your blog after being gone for a week. You have a lot of beautiful posts, love the heart jounal ! I always type a list on my computer for each day. I don't always get to all of it but it helps me set goals, like the saying goes, shoot for the moon and if you don't make it, you will at least be among the stars!
