the sea does not reward those who are too anxious,
too greedy, or too impatient.
to dig for treasures shows not only impatience and greed,
but lack of faith.
patience, patience, patience, is what the sea teaches.
patience and faith.
one should lie empty, open, choiceless as a beach -
waiting for a gift from the sea.

I love that book.....just priceless and timeless wisdom :D
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post. I have to admit that I am running out of patience regarding a specific situ in my life. Ugh! =/
ReplyDeleteI love this little book. I pull it out every few years and re it again.
ReplyDeleteOops, I'm afraid I might fall under the greedy category when it comes to bringing home loot from the sea - my hoodie pockets are often overflowing with shells after a beach outing. But if I turn these shells into gifts for others, could this excuse my childishness? I'm definitely guilty of sometimes letting the inner child take over.
ReplyDeletedearest one, this message was a divine gift to me...leading, encouraging, whisper-reminding me.
ReplyDeleteof course i stop to place my palms facing up & breathe more calmly now. it is worth it for the sea.
thank you. xox
This book is one of my favorites and I have it out on a table at the beach.....I so identify with the ocean and the ebe and flow...like life.....
ReplyDeleteHugs to you girlfriend,
Love the photo. We just finished this book in our online 'book club' and it was a great book. Thanks for the reminder.
ReplyDeletemolly teaches patience as well..:)
ReplyDeleteA wonderful quote. I used to love the books by Anne M. Lindbergh, such a strong woman and such a beautiful style of writing. Also, the photo fits well. And these words - so true, yet unpopular in our greedy times ...
ReplyDeletelori,
ReplyDeleteI have this book ~ it's beautiful and soulful ~ I think it's time to pull out and re-read ~ XX
I love that photo! I so wish our beaches had that many shells. Well, on the other hand, in Florida they did, and as a kid I never liked walking on the beach cuz those shells hurt my feet!
ReplyDeleteFabulous image and perfect complimentary words. Just the thing to start my day. Have a Happy weekend!!
ReplyDeleteI like that. Very interesting. I love going to the beach when I need to get away which is the whole reason why I am trying to get my little rickety motorhome up and running again. She's pretty much ready with exception to the air vents.
ReplyDeleteThe water is very calming for me. It's been a long time. I am inspired by this entry. Maybe I can take a drive up there in the van in the meantime.
Those beautiful shells are such lovely gifts from the sea! I spotted one with a hole on top, just waiting to become a necklace. I hope a little girl finds that one!... Such a pretty photo and post, Lori! xoxo Paulette
ReplyDeleteHow perfect a post! I am at the beach for VACA. Actually not too far from you, I think. we are staying at a beach house on Atlantic Beach. Aren't you in Ponte Vedra? My cousins took us to a downtown outdoor art walk this morn and I saw the turn off to Ponte Vedra. Thought of you.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
