permission slip

of all the things i love to do, resting is not one of them.
not only do i not like to rest, i'm really not very good at it either.
to me, resting is on that life-list of stuff that we've got to do every once in a while
whether we want to or not......like going to the dentist.......or exercising......

but the thing about rest is that it's in kahoots with that persistent little voice inside of you.....it nags at you in a gentle little whisper, and you ignore it of course, but before you know it, it's bellowing at you.  and eventually you have to listen....and be somewhat obedient to the calling.
so today i'm giving myself permission to take a bit of a creative break......and do some resting for the next few weeks.  {although i've already thought of some ways to cheat, so i'll be sneaking in some "elvie re-posts" here and there......}

in the meantime, i wish all of you bloggy sweeties a fabulously creative weekend ahead.....
mixed in with a bit of rest for yourself, too!!

see you soon......xoxo

  2. I completely understand this- I'm giving myself a summer vacation and just working in my little art journal- a "play" journal. No rules, no rights, no shoulds. It's been liberating and FUN!

  10. Perfect reminder. Its so true that resting is difficult. Even single-tasking is hard for me. I'm constantly reminding myself to slow down.

  14. It's so hard to do, isn't it!? I have so many other things that still need to be done, like weeding the 1 acre flower garden that the landlord left me, and planting the vegetable garden, that I may just have to use that as an excuse to take a creative break...not that I want to. We still need a paycheck!

  18. yes indeed rest - seems to be the artist creatives foe - we know we need to slow down, recharge - sometimes be still and just let what is be - but then there is always the next project that just can't wait.

  19. Hi, sweet Lori, I know what you mean. I HATE resting too. Sorry I have been behind on catching up with your posts lately. Going back to work tomorrow, 3 days a week, selling my calligraphy. My head is spinning. I wish you lots of healing, peace and renewal of creative juices. Blessings
