our little art group got together for a play day, and our sweet friend rynda shared some of her tips, tricks and vast wisdoms about colored pencils! she loves them, and i wish you could see her artwork.....it really is spectacular (think botanicals, seashells, sunflowers......oh my goodness, colored-pencil-happiness all over the place!).
the other thing rynda loves is artichokes.
i don't think i've ever eaten an artichoke, but i thought maybe i could try to draw one......
and send it to her!
(and now i love them, too......colored pencils, that is!)

I love it! I have to admit, I am terrified of artichokes because every time we've had one, one of it's prickly leaves has injured me. I'm sure there is a trick to handling it, but I'm not skilled enough to figure that out.
ReplyDeleteHow gorgeous! I love coloured pencils! I have the UK equivalent of the prismacolor, they are called Karisma. Mine have been untouched for far too long! Does your arty friend not have a blog? You are so blessed to be able to get together with such creative people. I wish I could join your group!
ReplyDeleteLori have you never had hot artichoke dip or spinach and artichoke dip??
ReplyDeletewe have steamed whole artichokes, but i prefer the hearts over the leaves...not much in the leaves.
Chel, for the prickly part, just take a pair of scissors and cut the tips off.
the card is beautiful!
xxoo
Love your artichoke, Lori! My mom and I used to always eat them together. Yum! Your drawing and lettering are so wonderful, thanks for the memory!
ReplyDeleteArtichokes make lovely drawing subjects! I don't think I've ever drawn one, but I love to eat the leaves dipped in hot melted butter. We also have delicious stuffed artichokes here but I usually just eat them steamed with butter.
ReplyDeleteWOW, what a gorgeous card. Ever consider licensing your work? Seriously - I would buy a greeting card like that. Or a set of coasters. Canisters, notebooks? NOTEBOOKS. Yes. Definitely more paper products. : )
ReplyDeleteYou have so much talent!!!!
xoxo
I love Shelley's comment! :D Indeed, this is lovely, Lori. :)
ReplyDeleteSooo pretty! And of course, your text is, as usual, simply amazing!
ReplyDeleteNever eaten an artichoke??? You certainly are not a California girl are you. :o) We love artichokes. Your drawing is perfect and I love how you have mounted it as a card. Very delicious...

ReplyDeleteYou did it AGAIN! You made an artichoke look so inviting & THEN made it into a card...You make me laugh. AND I'm jealous of your talent.

Sweet!!! I LOVE artichokes. To eat an artichoke, is to love an artichoke, I say. Maybe someday you will share my love of chicken piccata...yum artichokes...!
ReplyDeleteThat's one beautiful artichoke, Lori, and beautiful lettering too! ...and I love how you fixed it into that stunning card! (Shelley is so right!) xo Paulette :)
ReplyDeleteI love your artichoke! and I love to eat them too. Your art group sounds like it is fun and similar to one I am in. Great to get together with other creative gals to create and chat! (and enjoy chocolate too!!!)

ReplyDeleteartichokes are delish. I love them. You will have to give them a try. I love the drawing. I went through a color pencil phase for a while and I will like to use them but I have never gotten to be really proficient. I love your drawing the details are very good.
ReplyDeleteLove your work, it's awesome! I just wanted to tell you I gave you an award on my blog. Hope you will accept it. If you don't like awards then just take it as a compliment :)
ReplyDeleteLooks good enough to eat! Beautiful work Lori..and I love the border around it as well. You're talents are truly endless...and sounds like you have some fabulous inspiration :)

ReplyDeletewonderful piece
ReplyDeleteif you had eaten an artichoke you most likely would remember. I love colored pencils too
Oh just that picture of all those juicy colors makes me want to run out and by some! Yet, I'm sure I have some done there in that mess of a studio somewhere! Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever really eaten an artichoke either. Artichoke dip, yes, but that doesn't really count does it?
ReplyDeleteHi! and for stopping by my blog and commenting on my artichokes and petcatures! I put up a really cute petcature for Sept. 11th!
ReplyDeleteWonderful! I haven't used my pencils in a while, but you have inspired me today!
ReplyDelete(Try the artichoke - they're delicious!)
ReplyDeleteWonderful artichoke and lettering Lori! (Although I like artichokes, they don't pair well with chocolate...) :)
