inspiration monday

for those days when you want to do something a little different in your journal,
all you need to do is pull out some of those photos that you've taken recently!
choose your favorite photo and trace the image onto tracing paper......

then transfer your drawing to a carving block, and
carve away your pencil lines.

after you've finished carving,  apply your favorite ink and
stamp your image onto your journal page......

and once you've added some finishing touches,  you've got a
colorful journal page that was inspired by your very own photo collection!

{for more information on stamp carving, you can watch my video here!}

{supplies: strathmore visual journal for mixed media, sunflower photograph,
 hand-carved stamp (made with speedy carve and a speedball cutting tool),
stampabilities and colorbox pigment stamp inks, pitt pens, 4B graphite pencil}

  10. I keep telling myself I want to try stamp making again... I did some in another creative life years ago!
    Do you "tamp" the stamp design on the stamp pad, or rub the pad lightly over the surface of the stamp?
    Is my question too silly? I always seem to get too much ink on the stamp & it bleeds into the groves.

  11. Lori - You stamp-carving goddess!!! Another awesome stamp and finished piece!! Stamp + lettering + ink = one fabulous LV original. Love it. Can you help me figure out how to "carve" more time into a day so I can try out all these great ideas?!? :) Have a splendid week! xoox, Jeanette

  12. hi christine! that's not a silly question at all! this particular stamp was a little larger than what i usually work with (about 6"x4"), so i tamped the ink pad across the surface of the stamp. but i usually do the opposite (tamping the stamp onto the ink pad) when i'm using smaller stamps. i hope that helps! xox
