thumb giddiness


i was in the middle of a really messy journal page the other day, and ended up blotting my inky fingers on a random scrap of paper. later, the little fingerprints caught my attention and i was instantly taken back to a time when i was a kid.....and, boy, did i ever love, love, love creating little thumbprint people! i had spiral notebooks filled with boring calculus and history notes.....and fun, whimsical little thumbprint people dancing in the margins of the page (after all, how else does a girl ever survive calculus and history?!)!
and with such a happy walk down memory lane, i really couldn't resist picking up a blue ink pen and finishing out those random prints on the paper......a few ink marks here and there, and now i'm in total
thumb giddiness!
so the moral of my story is: make sure you check all of those little scraps of artsy goodness hanging around your workspace.....you may just have some creative happiness waiting to be discovered!!

    these lil guys are so so cute!! (^_^) i used to do it too.. it's the only reason i kept my school books =)

    My book shelves & journals are crammed with odd bits of paper.. some almost feel like fabric they're so old! My best work comes from those doodle scraps... i'd love to see your thumb chums in a little comic! (^_^)

    this is hillarious! i used to do the same thing in my notes for highschool....

    ohhh..you have brought back my days of carefree whimsy and play....

    i think i'll sit down with my kids tonight and doodle out an entire thumb family of fun!

    I failed calculus....twice. Even my notebook doodles couldn't save me.

    Lori..you inspire me so much to find my inner child again. When I have kids...can you please just come and hang out with them and do thumbprint art and all sorts of other fun and creative things?! okay i really just want you to come and do that with me :)

    They make me smile. For some reason i can see the one on the left as a firethumbman comming to the rescue of a family of thumbfolk whos house is alight. Its amazing where a little thumb print can take your imagination!

    Every time I try to clean up my studio I come across some messy little bit that suddenly looks like it would be just perfect in a collage or journal. Ah, the perils of creativity. I love what you did with your thumbprints!

    lori...you crack me up girlfriend.
    i totally did this all the time. i even had special ink pads for my thumb print people. i had a book that showed you all of the thumb people possibilities and i am quite positive i "thumbed" every one of them...
    thank for sharing your sweet silly side.
    i LOVE every bit of it.
    (i so can.t wait for the day i get to meet you in person...we are going to have a ball.)
