busy hands

my 12-year-old niece alyssa has been visiting me this week.  she loves to swim, go to the book store, and read new books (she also loves the smell of new books.....).  but what she really loves when she comes to stay with me is to play in my studio.......

and i really love it when she's in my studio, too.
it absolutely melts my heart to see those precious little artist hands busy at work.

we're finishing up some projects today......i'll show you what we've been up to on monday!
have a great weekend, bloggy sweeties!!

  2. Enjoy! I love that kids don't have that internal critical filter when they're creating - they just create. My 12- and 14-year-old were busy spray painting boxes and creating animal structures yesterday. Today is friendship bracelets. I love summer. :)

  3. Lori, Does it get any better than to have happy little hands to work in your studio??? I think not! Sounds like you've been having a grand 'ol time. Can't wait for Monday's post. Have a great weekend. Best, Jeanette

  4. you aunties are the best!
todd's older sister has never married or had kids of her own so she really does a lot with my kids and their younger sister's kids. my sisters in law and i are called 'tante' (german for aunt). (on todd's side i am tante patty, on my side i am aunt patty... gets confusing sometimes! lol) anyway, tante kimmy is THE BEST.
it's nice that you are taking time with your niece. and it's extra nice that she has a creative side and you can share your expertise with her. i hope you have a fun time together!
    xoxo :-)

  6. New book smell is the best. My 31 yr. old son still smells new books. How lovely that your niece shares your love of craft.

  8. Love the busy hands, and I look forward to seeing what you both were creating. I just blogged tonight about my own girls' arty hands--painting for the first time today. I wasn't exactly the "inspirational art mommy", but letting them get their hands dirty in all that painty water was a good first step!
