waiting room

when it comes time for my annual check-up at the doctor, there are only two things that make me a little nervous.  the first is that horrifying moment when you have to stand on the scale and the nurse moves those clunky weights across the bars to the right......and keeps moving them to the right......and this year, even more to the right.  eeek!  every year i wear lightweight pants and take off my shoes before stepping on the scale, but it really doesn't seem to matter (maybe eating fewer pans of brownies would help.....).
the other thing i'm not crazy about is all of the waiting......and the waiting.....and even more waiting!  i'm not a very patient patient!  but the moleskine journal in my purse was a lifesaver......you can sit and draw for hours in them.  and that's just about how much time i had the other day.....ugh.

hope you have lots of time this weekend to do the things you want to do!

I'm taking my Mom to the Dr today so I need to take my sketch pad along. Mom is a TALKER so she'll keep EVERYONE entertained. You always have such great ideas!

Oh, the WAITING! It drives me insane. I wish I could just sit in my car or outside or even in the HALLWAY outside the office until it's my turn. That alone gives me more anxiety than anything the doctor will find!

Great way to spend your time waiting...love your sketch:)

Hint: First appt of the day usually means no waiting. Not 100% guaranteed but still better than other times of the day.

I am always inspired by you.
The answer to the scales (I read the other day)
"As I was washing my hair in the shower this morning, I took time to
read the details on my shampoo bottle.
I am in shock!
The shampoo I use in the shower that runs down my entire body
says "for extra volume and body"!
Seriously, why have I not noticed this before??
Now I understand why I am so "full-figured"!
Tomorrow I am going to start using Morning Fresh dish washing liquid.
It says right on the label "dissolves fat that is otherwise difficult to remove."
It pays to read the warning labels, my friends!
This explains everything... !!
And here I was thinking it was all the chocolate and ice cream I was eating..!!

Your drawing is worth a thousand words. Waiting is the worst. That scale will continue to move in the wrong direction as we age so I say enjoy those brownies and that chocolate we love so much! Safe Labor Holiday weekend...

Gee... I can relate to your thoughts here. I have the same feelings when I go in for my annual exam. I know the feelings all too well. Great idea to let the sketching distract you!

Since you are complaining about the scale and about the waiting, I guess everything else is ok with you and the next time you go to the doctor's will be for your next yearly checkup ;)

Well..., I have to go to visit the neurologist in two weeks but fortunately she never ask my weight ;)
I hate having to wait without doing anything so I take a book and my "for all" notebook and wait in good company (^^) Hope the doctor find you well ♥

I usually have a crossword book in my purse that I try to concentrate on (while I'm also trying to concentrate on not shaking so much), but I see you make much better use of your time waiting. What a great sketch, Lori! I'm sure the person in the seat next to you enjoyed watching you draw...and you probably took her mind off of things for a while as well. :) "Ugh"... the perfect word for any doctor's office, the waiting room...and that darn scale!
Hope all went well, Sweetie...AND, that you treated yourself to a nice hunk of chocolate as a reward afterwards!!! xoxo Paulette :)

When it is time to step on the scale, close your eyes and ask them not to tell you what it says. I've done this for years, and in my happy little head I am much, much lighter than reality...;). also, cut the size labels out of all your garments...who needs to have that info shoved in your face first thing every morning?! also, I avoid tv and magazines as they definately do not have my best interests at heart. my self-image has risen considerably since I started doing this, and I know when my clothing gets a bit snug I have to cut back on the treats a bit...not when the fashion mags tell me I have to wear a size 2 to be happy! Thank you for sharing your lovely art and blog with us...I find it immensely inspiring...xx
