Lori Vliegen works and plays in a happy art place called Elvie Studio.
She discovered a true passion for letterforms as a child when her mom taught her how to write her name using a crayon. Since then, she's spent over twenty years studying and playing with the alphabet. She loves to find new ways to use letterforms in her projects, and has played with materials such as paper, glass, fabric, metal, clay, and has been excited to see her designs come to life in the form of rubber stamps.
Her artwork has also been seen in many museums and venues, and she has been honored to participate in two juried exhibits at the Smithsonian Institute/National Postal Museum.
She has also been a contributor to the books
"Sharing Stitches", "Creative Lettering", "A World of Artist Journal Pages",
and "Complete Guide to Bible Journaling",
as well as the mixed-media publications "Somerset Studio" and "Dasherie Magazine".
Lori and her husband Walther live in north Florida with their mini-goldendoodle Gidget, and they're very proud of their grown children and sweet grandbaby Elliot. When she's not lettering or playing in her studio, Lori can usually be found watching Downton Abbey re-runs and
nibbling on a bar of Belgian dark chocolate.
