Lori Vliegen works and plays in a happy art place called Elvie Studio.
She discovered a true passion for letterforms as a child when her mom taught her how to write her name using a crayon. Since then, she's spent over twenty years studying the fine art of calligraphy. She loves to find new ways to use letterforms in her projects, and has played with materials such as paper, glass, fabric, metal, and clay, and as a member of the Technique Tuesday product team, Lori has been excited to see her designs come to life in the form of rubber stamps. Her artwork has also been seen in many museums and venues, and she has been honored to participate in two juried exhibits at the Smithsonian Institute/National Postal Museum. She has also been a contributor to the books "Sharing Stitches" and "Creative Lettering", as well as the mixed-media publication "Somerset Studio".
Lori and her husband Walther live in north Florida, and they're very proud of their two grown children. When she's not lettering or playing in her studio, Lori can usually be found watching Downton Abbey and nibbling on a bar of Belgian dark chocolate.
