inspiration monday

"Listen, when I was a little girl, I used to spend hours looking for ladybugs.
Finally, I'd just give up and fall asleep in the grass.
When I woke up....they were crawling all over me."
as told by Katherine to Frances in the movie "Under the Tuscan Sun"

sometimes when i'm looking for inspiration i'll look through some of my favorite magazines....which leads me to looking through my collection of books.....and then i'll find myself on the computer ooohing and ahhhing at other people's blogs....which will somehow take me straight to youtube. and after hours of searching, i discover that i've managed to cross that fine line between inspiration and overwhelm!
usually when i feel like i need to search for inspiration, what i really need to do is just give my creative brain a rest. and when i allow myself to take an artistic breather....just like ladybugs in the grass....inspiration will find me when i'm ready for it!

So true...so true!
I do the same thing. I end up in overload mode.
Love the ladybugs.
Have a great day. Hugs from Texas

I love the fabric and the quote is perfect for this post. Inspiration often comes from the past for me.

Oh...this is just so true! I've been stitching away this week, only to toss two pins in the trash. Grrrrr! Some days it's best not to try to make things happen and to do just what you said and "take a breather". Thanks Lori! :o) Love those little buggies! Hugs, Paulette :o)

That entry, in it's self, was so inspiring. I, too, have the same experience. Mine spreads a bit wider than just what I want to do creatively. Once I find a project, I'm afraid to start it because I'm afraid I won't have time to work on or to finish it with my everyday tasks. So, I loose by not starting the project :(.

Working on a solution.

Okay...now you know that I just love ladybugs :) And you're right...if we go looking too hard for inspiration, it can be very overwhelming! Sometimes we just need to let it find us....
Funny the way the world works! have a great day :)

I find when I look outside myself too much it gets too noisy and I cannot here the still small voice. And, I have a bad habit of comparing.

I guess some of us do the same things. I too head for my magazines and the internet. Overwhelming sometimes.
Quiet time - the just-before-going-to-sleep time. That's when ideas take hold but there is no paper or pen/cil.

how true...sometimes i just need to be...right? thanks for the thoughts...i sometimes just do too much during the daily life to be creative too...that is a sad unbalance!

Isn't that so true?! I often notice the fine line of being inspired and feeling overwhelmed. Sometimes there can be too much information, even of the inspiring kind... Giving our creativity a rest or expressing it in other areas of our lives is sometimes just what the doctor ordered... Hugs, Silke

Hi, Lori,

Do you have a Facebook account???? Or how can I contact you for real???

What a very wonderful thought. Inspiration is usually what I have too much of. My depletion comes in the execution department. Or I complete the 'wrong' things. Maybe what I need to do is give my creative manager a rest and go lay in the grass. Thanks for a much needed inspiration.
