inspiration monday

i don't pretend to be a neatnik, but when my studio starts to rival scenes on "world's scariest tornado aftermaths", i know i'm in trouble. part of the problem in cleaning all of this up is knowing where to start: like maybe adding all of this fabric to my stash (but then do i also have to organize the stash?!).....

or tackling these overflowing baskets of ribbons and yarns (if i'm brave enough to reach all the way back into that scary dark area....yikes!)......

or finally finding a home for all of these tubes of beads.....
(but rest assured, i won't be spending the three full weeks that would be necessary to untangle that nest of bead string!)

and then there's the stacks of books and magazines that seem to be lurking everywhere......

and the paper.
oh.....my......goodness.
the paper.

okay, i'm overwhelmed!!
but i am somewhat inspired by how fabulous it will look......
when i'm all finished finding the perfect spot for all of this stuff.
i just hope i can remember where i'm putting everything.....

A very inspirational mess! Putting things away usually ends up being great therapy. Getting started is always the hardest.

And no, you will not remember where you put everything. Sometimes, you will not find what you are looking for until you go out and buy it (again). Then when you bring it home and put it away, you will find what it was you were looking for in the first place.

Good luck!

LOL, I think normality is the word that comes to mind. The rooms of creative genius are always in a bit of disarray. Have you even seen pics of Einsteins studio? Hugs

Looks a LOT like my sewing room at the moment! What fun to put things away and then find you have other things you forgot you had....more inspiration! Have fun

Good luck to you! I can completely relate. Glad you are ready to tackle your stash! I'm still in fright mode with mine ;)

All I'm going to organize today is: fold laundry, and the mail that i've put aside to deal with later.

Your right, not enough time in the day :D

Creative chaos - who does that remind me of? Hmmmmmm - we NEED that sometimes, we don't have the time and energy to be always orderly and tidy. Also, it's inspiring ;)

I can certainly relate to this problem :) cleaning one are a leads to another leads to another and before you know it you're wondering how it took so long!

Looks familiar. As long as you know where to find things, then where's the need for being a neatnik? :)

My husband always jokes that my craft room is actually my biggest craft. I think I spend more time organizing and moving things around in there than I actually spend creating anything :) Good luck and have fun!

i love your glasses
sitting on top
of one of the piles!
i totally relate
to the mess that comes
with a creative life
& how it's so much less fun
to do the cleaning up part!
i have one of those
low & long dressers
& over the last couple of years,
the top of it has become
COVERED
FROSTED
& TOPPED
WITH A CHERRY
& EVERY FRUIT
OF THE FOREST
with my art stuff!
lol, sister!

Oh my goodness do I know about this. I wish I could say it was just my work area, but, it seems sometimes to be everywhere in my house. Just kind of squint your eyes when looking at it and maybe a great revelation will come to you LOL

I don't know how it happens but my studio gets this way most days. It does feel good to have it clean and organized but then it feels better to be creating and making the "mess". Happy organizing...

I really hear ya, Lori.

I've just been saying to Sir Beads that I think I spend more time "putting back" and sorting! than I do creating.

Honestly, I do believe that if I had a really LARGE space, where I could set up several tables and leave my supplies out - yet still somewhat separated - that it would not only be easier, but I'd also have the time, inspiration, and energy to create so much more!

WANTED: Looking to rent an unused football field. Must be enclosed. ;-)

Hugs!

Hey I have a super easy way to clean your studio! You can mail me all your yummo papers...I will totally take them off your hands! :)

Right now I am avoiding my studio clean up.

I am right with you! It is nice to know that others have organized chaos & goodies that are in luscious piles everywhere, though. I get so overwhelmed that I can't begin...and I really never mean to be clutterful. (So why do I shop for more?)

Okay, so I'm not alone in this. I am so over whelmed with my mess that I'm getting anxiety attacks. And, I went to an antique flea market yesterday, couldn't help myself and bought more stuff that I don't know where to put.
Let me know if you find a solution...

But it is a beautiful mess!!
We're having such fun. Little peanut walked about 8 steps but still bear crawls everywhere. Won't be long and he's off. Well, actually, he's off now!

when did you sneak in and take pictures of my stuff??? LOLOL
you are not alone in your crafty untidiness :-)
hugs!!!!!!!

That is the way mine looked--until I moved recently. Now it is all neat, but I don't know how long it will stay that way!
