sometimes i walk into my studio, and even with all of this "stuff" that i've accumulated over the years, i have no idea which direction to go in. so i do what i always end up doing.....grab my glasses, a mechanical pencil, and a pad of graph paper......and i start scribbling some letters. i've been fascinated with letterforms ever since i was a child when my mom taught me how to write my name. to me, they are the ultimate doodle, and i could sit for hours caught up in all of their shapes and sizes. these little alpha-happies are total chocolate-comfort......but in a no-fat version. :))

I learned to write (cursive) my name from my dad before I started school. It wasn't until grade 3 that we learned in school and I was very impatient to get on with it. Both my parents had beautiful handwriting but my brother and my husband are really bad (and my husband had to take penmanship in school!) I love writing and really should do more of it.
I love letters and words too. What a great way to free your mind! I need to keep some graph paper and pencils in my office for when I need a Calgon moment. :-) Have a great weekend!

Your gorgeous handwriting sure looks perfecto, and very much like what you'd see on the banners hung up on the walls of a school classroom (that's how perfect they are!) Your multiple talents are incredible.
That is so sweet. I like to write, too. The computer is easier, of course. But there's something magical about watching letters form on paper. And yours are marvelous!
YOU...have the coolest penmenship! Love the reference to chocolate! I, too, have to have a non-caloric intake of my choco-like faves....but it only lasts for so long til I need the real thing!!

Missy, your alphabets are letter-perfect! I was reminded of my High School Mechanical Drawing and Architectural Design classes, when we had to sit for HOURS writing capital letters. I never did conquer it - my letters came out looking like a spaz wrote them down.
I coulda used a lesson from you, that's for sure!

Thank you so much for sharing your art. I, too, love letterform and calligraphy. I used to feel terribly frustrated that my attempts didn't turn out the way I wanted them to, or (I know this is wrong) when I compare it to others' work.
Now I simply enjoy it, and just let it fill me up. When I look at your art, I know I'm "THUMB-Body" special. I know-baaaad joke. hee hee!
