i heart my mary janes......{elvie-encore-post #2}

it's probably a little silly to be so attached to a pair of shoes, but i must confess that i love my mary janes.  i think that i've walked at least a million miles in these shoes.  i've been told that i need to give them up and wear something a little more "grown up", but instead i choose to replace the elastic under the buckles, for the fourth time now, so i can walk another million miles.  besides, grown up shoes hurt my feet.

i heart my mary janes so much that several months ago i took a drawing class and decided to use them as one of my models...and then make some note cards!

and to carry it one step further (good pun? bad pun?),  i just had to carve a mary janes stamp.  and this pair will never need to have the elastic replaced......

i'm currently on a little bloggy break......
this is an encore presentation of a post originally featured on april 14, 2009

Crazy that you can take something so cute and make them even cuter! Great job with your artistic eye.

LOL, this cracks me up! Your drawing is fantastic. I used to have a pair of Dr. Martin sandals that I had the elastic replaced in 6 times before my husband snuck them out of the house. Let's just say that he was in trouble for a LONG time. Love the stamp and your drawing! Great story!

When you have such great blogs, it's a wonderful idea to recycle them. Stamps and shoes....you just keep creating amazing combinations.

Oh Lori: These are my favorite Mary Janes too. I have them in dark red and in green suede. I have owned mine for a few years and I still wear them! We never have to wear shoes we don't want to because we are the grown-up now! Love your hand carved stamp too. Happy June 1st. We are having rain, hail, thunder, very cold temps and extreme weather even for California. Smiles...

I love your photo, your drawing and the stamp you made....SO cute. As much as I try to steer clear, mary janes are my all time favorite. I'm with you, grown up shoes aren't comfortable! Hope you're enjoying your rest.

Ditto, what everyone said above. Personally, I think we have finally grown up when we can choose to wear what we love regardless of the current fashion trend. I swore after discovering Birkenstocks for the first time that my feet would never suffer again for the sake of fashion...and I've never looked back. LOVE those marry janes.....what brand are they, if you don't mind me asking? I could use a pretty shoe that is also comfy rather than the Keens I now wear...the are a wee bit clunky for some things. Blessings!
