i recently came across this fabulous little birdie how-to over at non dairy diary, and i was so inspired that i declared that very moment "play time"!
start by painting some watercolor splotches on your paper......

and then outline them with a permanent marker.
add eyes, a beak, and all those other birdie things......
and you have a nice little flock of chickadees!
but why stop there?
somewhere in those watercolor blobs there might also be some piggies.....

and mousies.....
and bunnies......oh, my!
cyberspace is jam-packed with spectacular ideas......
let inspiration and a little play help you to put your own spin on them!!

These are inspiring me to draw and paint little things. So cute. I have linked to this post from my blog (so I know how to find you again!) Lovely work.
Thank you for this inspiration. I was searching "easy watercolor for kids", as I prepare to teach a group of homeschooled kids basic watercolor. I think I'll have them mix each "body" using primary colors to get a rainbow of chickadees. Adorable.
Such a sweet inspiring idea - kids will love to do this. And of course I'll have to have a go myself!
These are cute! I see them as family thumbprints made into cute lil animals to frame and hang on the wall!
The drawings are simply beautiful! So simple and so funny! Congratulations!!
so cute!!
Akkkkkkk!!! love these thanks for the inspiration!

OMG! the watercolor birds are so cute! check creative ideas at www.sandybucket.com
Those are adorable! And your mousies crack me up, because my 12 year old daughter still resents that she thought the plural of mouse was mousies when she was tested in preschool. She blames me. :)
sooo cute

Oh my goodness!!! These are adorable! I am just learning to use watercolors and I can see how much fun this is going to be.
J'adore les oiseaux, c'est magnifique...
Love these. Thanks for posting.
Just wanted to say thanks. I have zero art skills, but find drawing relaxing (and I need that, lately). I tried this and it is super simple and I actually liked the end result!
Thanks again.
Thank you Elvie, I was inspired by your beautiful bird images to create a card for our loved ones. I appreciate your generous posts :D)
I'm not a fan of other people copying other people's work. She could have at least given you or nondairydiary.com credit for the inspiration. I read about someone else who reproduced these birds and tried to copyright them as their own, so my hackles went up when I saw this post on You Tube.

These are just so cute! I am just starting to explore water coloring and the first day was very frustrating. I realized I was in over my head and searched for something happier and easier to try, and now the only problem is I CANNOT STOP MAKING THESE. Thanks for posting them.
I am just beginning to explore this wonderful world of watercolors. Thank you for sharing this precious artwork - it gives me hope that I can actually do something.
Thank you for the tutorial! My sister and I did these together. Had a great time, love time spent with my sis. :) I posted a photo to my blog.
