inspiration monday

  a while back, i saw teesha moore demonstrate her amazing 16-page journal in this video, and i fell in love with it!  but her journal measures 8x10" and i prefer to work on a smaller canvas, so i made some variations to the template and came up with a journal format that i have since used for my pottery barn journal, and elvie studio journal.  my version is 5x7"and uses only half of a large sheet of watercolor paper......and there's just enough pages inside to inspire me, but not so many pages to make me feel overwhelmed!

this weekend i got out some paper and thread and made a new blank journal, but this time i was inspired to use a 5-hole stitch instead of the 3-hole stitch to bind it together.
if you'd like to make one too, here are a couple of videos showing how to do it!

when you discover a blank journal that rocks your world, it's easy to find yourself with an entire collection of them!  i hope you have fun making these!  :))

here are the supplies i used:

fabriano artistico 140 lb. HP paper
large paper clips
ruler, pencil, scissors

 {the martha stewart scoring board isn't essential (but it's great, treat yourself!).....
you can read more about it here!}

Good Morning Lori Dear. I do have the score board but not the other supplies. Thank you for the links and I would love to make a journal. Reality says it probably won't get done in this lifetime though. :o(
I adore everything you create!! Happy Hearts are Creative Hearts...

Thanks Lori for sharing this size journal with us. I made the Teesha Moore journal, and it was a bit too large for me too. So I'm glad to see the videos for yours. Now I definitely have to make some of these. Thanks again. Linda E.

Lori thank you so much!! I had a bunch of these whipped out in no time. I like the bigger size but was really wanting to have one about half that size and you have made it so easy! Thanks again so much. You are just the best!

Thank you for posting this video. I was planning to make one of Teesha Moore's journals (this week!), but wanted a smaller size as well.
And here you came to my rescue. Wonderful!

I'm so glad to meet you, I found you today through a friend who linked your blog while showing us her journal, I have made a couple of watercolor journals but this advice from you is priceless! I can't wait to do this!!!
My biggest mistake was I made my journal with too many signatures, it would have been easier to start smaller , with less, I love the way you fold your pages out, it adds such interest and uniqueness to the journal, thank you so much for sharing!I will enjoy following your blog

This is the first 'make your own journal' how to that has been clear and simple enough (and cute and beautiful!) to actually result in my using it! I have bookmarked many others, but I am positive this is the first home made journal I'll actually create. Bless you for sharing it with us!
