anatomy of an acorn

i recently took a quick walk through the park…..

and there was evidence all over the sidewalks 

that the squirrels have been busy stocking up goodies for the winter.

i couldn't resist picking up the "leftovers", 

  and by the time i got home, i had a pocketful of goodies 

just waiting to be added to my journal!

inspiration monday

i've spent this past week up in the mountains of north carolina.

there's been an abundance of autumn-leaf-eye-candy all around......

and inspiration is absolutely everywhere!
happy autumn, bloggy sweeties!!

inspiration monday

we've been treated to some "fall weather" here in florida, and it inspired me to create this little doodle of some of my favorite autumn things! i decided to make a little video, and of course ran into some editing issues (which is videography speak for "i forgot to press the 'record' button when i was painting the first part"!!!), so it's rather short.....

i hope that this gorgeous weather inspires you to put on some cozy socks and your favorite sweater, so you can go outside and rake some of those fall leaves into a big pile....and jump in it! then come on inside for a nice bowl of warm soup, a mug of apple cider.....and maybe a piece of pumpkin pie for dessert!!

autumn inspirations

autumn is in the air everywhere...even in north florida!  i don't know how long it will be here, but we've had a nice "cool front" come through our neighborhood, low humidity and a nice ocean breeze.  so, autumn inspiration has crept into my studio, and i thought this fabric would make the perfect book to reflect that.  construction is the same as the other books that i've made recently.  today, i may change gears and get my calligraphy nibs out, mix up some gouache, and get lost in that wonderful sound of putting letterforms onto paper...i'll let you know how it goes.
