inspiration monday

a few days ago i spied this pin over at pinterest and loved the idea of weaving the ribbon through the paper.   but instead of wrapping presents (as in the pin),  i decided to get out some of my papercrafting goodies and use that inspiration towards some cards......

and before i knew it,  there was stuff everywhere,  and
not only did i have a couple of fun cards,
i also had a huge,  happy,  papercrafting mess!  woo hoo!

the original pin shows the weaving in more of a belt buckle fashion,
so i wove this ribbon through the paper in the opposite way, giving it a totally
different look!

then, i decided to try another card,  this time using baker's twine.
but instead of weaving it in a traditional way,  i went in a bit of a different
direction and used the twine to weave through punched holes
and just attach all the pieces together....

and it was all inspired by a pretty present over at pinterest!

inspiration monday

one of my favorite places to go when i'm looking for some inspiration is the greeting card store.  there's something there for everyone....funny, sad, kid-like, lovey-dovey, cheesy, to-the-point, touch-your-heart, etc.   but i must admit that my favorites are the ones that convey a simple truth in ten words or less...like this little goodie above!  of course, almost any card that has to do with ice cream or chocolate will usually find its way into my cart.  these are wonderful pieces of affordable art that i just can't get enough of, so today i honor all the wonderful, imaginative, savvy, talented, overworked-because-they're-probably-always-up-against-a-deadline, creative genius, providers of art inspiration,  greeting card creators!!
this card was created by the creative artists at Carlton Cards

field trip

martha and i took a "field trip" the other day (i say field trip because it took me out of my studio, and we went to a place that takes me an hour to drive to!).  we went to see our friend donna, who owns a very sweet rubber stamp shop called a small cleverness, very appropriately named because it's very small, but filled to the rim with clever ideas and inspiration.  and while donna provides a wonderful selection of books, stamps, tools and paper, she's especially generous in offering her ideas and inspiration.  this is a photo of our "make and take"...a fun little card that uses an "inchie" as its centerpiece.  an inchie is a piece of artwork that's done on a one inch square, and i've been hesitant to start making them only because i have so many other interests. but because i love working on a small scale, i knew that i would love inchies, and i finally caved and made one.  and i was right...i loved making it!  now i just have to figure out how to incorporate them into my books, lettering, drawing, painting...good grief, the list goes on.
