inktober #3

inktober day number three.   prompt: "collection"

oh.my.goodness, how i struggled with this!
(and as i sit here staring at this photo, i see so much that needs work!)
i am waaaay far away from my comfort zone
with this "ink only" rule, and it's painful.
yeah, i know, "no pain, no gain",  but
do you think anyone would notice if i picked up my mechanical pencil
and got out my watercolors.....just for a tiny second?  :))

the majority of artwork on this page was created with
my Pentel pocket brush pen, and the lines were softened a bit
with a waterbrush.  other details were added with a micron .005

see you tomorrow.....xox

time out

i absolutely love this time of year,
but it's easy to get a little overwhelmed by a to-do list that's
 growing larger than my chocolate-inspired-hips.

so my favorite remedy is a quick stroll on the beach.

there's no hustle and bustle here, no black friday, no cyber monday….

no long lines, and no searching endlessly for a parking spot.

there's only mother nature doing what she does best…..

putting life back into perspective, one roll-of-the-waves-onto-the-shore at a time.

here's to a peaceful weekend, sweet friends!

seashells on the sand

"the tide recedes, but leaves behind bright seashells on the sand.
the sun goes down, but gentle warmth still lingers on the land.
the music stops, yet echoes on in sweet, soulful refrains.
for every joy that passes, something beautiful remains."

i hope you have a joyfully creative weekend!!

patience, faith, and gifts

the sea does not reward those who are too anxious,
too greedy, or too impatient.
to dig for treasures shows not only impatience and greed,
but lack of faith.
patience, patience, patience, is what the sea teaches.
patience and faith.
one should lie empty, open, choiceless as a beach -
waiting for a gift from the sea.

inspiration monday

our weather here has been picture perfect the past few days...and i must confess that i've been playing hookie in my studio because of it.  right now, the fragrance of salty ocean breezes seems so much more appealing to me than the odor of pva glue.  and, if i'm given the choice of staying inside and organizing my paper stash, versus sitting in the sand searching through these broken coquina shells for little treasures...well, you probably already know which one i found to be more inspiring!
