our little art group got together for a play day, and our sweet friend rynda shared some of her tips, tricks and vast wisdoms about colored pencils! she loves them, and i wish you could see her artwork.....it really is spectacular (think botanicals, seashells, sunflowers......oh my goodness, colored-pencil-happiness all over the place!).
the other thing rynda loves is artichokes.
i don't think i've ever eaten an artichoke, but i thought maybe i could try to draw one......
and send it to her!

I love it! I have to admit, I am terrified of artichokes because every time we've had one, one of it's prickly leaves has injured me. I'm sure there is a trick to handling it, but I'm not skilled enough to figure that out.
How gorgeous! I love coloured pencils! I have the UK equivalent of the prismacolor, they are called Karisma. Mine have been untouched for far too long! Does your arty friend not have a blog? You are so blessed to be able to get together with such creative people. I wish I could join your group!
Lori have you never had hot artichoke dip or spinach and artichoke dip??
we have steamed whole artichokes, but i prefer the hearts over the leaves...not much in the leaves.
Chel, for the prickly part, just take a pair of scissors and cut the tips off.

Artichokes make lovely drawing subjects! I don't think I've ever drawn one, but I love to eat the leaves dipped in hot melted butter. We also have delicious stuffed artichokes here but I usually just eat them steamed with butter.
WOW, what a gorgeous card. Ever consider licensing your work? Seriously - I would buy a greeting card like that. Or a set of coasters. Canisters, notebooks? NOTEBOOKS. Yes. Definitely more paper products. : )

artichokes are delish. I love them. You will have to give them a try. I love the drawing. I went through a color pencil phase for a while and I will like to use them but I have never gotten to be really proficient. I love your drawing the details are very good.

This is just gorgeous! I love my prismacolors too and recently have just been playing and playing with them. I did an artichoke too! I love painting them AND eating them.

Oh just that picture of all those juicy colors makes me want to run out and by some! Yet, I'm sure I have some done there in that mess of a studio somewhere! Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever really eaten an artichoke either. Artichoke dip, yes, but that doesn't really count does it?
