you're going to think i'm crazy (or, maybe you already do.....heehee)......but i've made another blank sketch journal. eeeek! but hey, it will look great with all the other blank sketch journals i've made......and haven't filled with artwork.....yet. my problem is that i get ideas for "themed" journals, then i make the journal, and then i only complete half the pages, because by that time i have a new idea for another "themed" journal. and the wheel goes 'round and 'round! but this time i did something a little smarter......i put a small amount of pages inside this journal so now i have a better chance of filling it up (said with a hopeful tone in voice....)!
{journal cover}
and i've chosen a "theme" that always, always inspires me......pottery barn!
since i always seem to have my nose in one of their yummy catalogs......
it was easy to come up with inspiration for what to sketch on the pages!
(wouldn't you just love to have an entire room filled with these fabulous sicily jugs?!)
and something about these colorful market umbrellas just screams
"happy.....party.....come-on-and-sit-outside-and-eat-some-chocolate"!
think about what you love and what makes you really happy
(like new journals, pottery barn, sicily jugs, party umbrellas and chocolate!)......
and you're bound to find inspiration, too!!

journal cover and pages created with koi watercolor, derwent inktense pencils,
graphite pencils, and micron pens}

Sitting under umbrellas eating chocolate - mmmmmm!
Hope you manage to complete this one - I'm a self confessed flitter!!
You can never have too many journals - or paper. This is going to be a fun theme for you. Those umbrellas caught my eye and I'm glad to see they caught yours too.
Well half the fun is in the magical potential of a brand-new journal!
Those Pottery Barn catalogs do look yummy. I haven't seen one in a few years, so I'll just peek over your shoulder to see what they're doing these days. :)
FANTASTIC IDEA....I SO DO THIS TOO...HALF FILLED JOURNALS!!!!
WISH I WAS SITTING UNDER ONE OF THOSE UMBRELLA'S NOW.
Lori! My mouth is gaping open at how gorgeous this journal is! The illustrations, lettering, colouring... all perfect. They're prettier than the Pottery Barn photos. :) And what a clever idea to start with!
Your blog sure adds cheer to our Monday mornings. :)
Ok, Lori, I am popping my eyeballs back in! Love this themed journal and your illustrations are fabulous!! Can't wait to see more of your Pottery Barn house! What a great idea!!
Another super nifty journal. Love your drawings inside too!
A lot more affordable to "own" pottery barn items this way! Love it, Lori. Your sketches are beautiful!
What a magnificient idea! A Pottery Barn Journal.....!!! I also wish I had a whole house of Pottery Barn furnishings and accessories!!! And what about Pottery Barn Kids???? Your illustrations are just beautiful...can't wait to see the rest of the house....
I spent a lovely hour this morning looking through all of your older blog posts. Thanks for inspiring me to concentrate on my letters.
Your handmade journals are beautiful. I even like your blank one. Now for the house of inspiration...jugs, umbrellas and chocolate are all joyous. Love how you have made your very own "catalog" journal. Love your drawings and letterings my dear...
I love it!...I wish I could paint like you! I thoroughly enjoy seeing what you are up to next.
ahh! you are CLEVER!!!!
what a great idea. i love pottery barn, too. in fact, i just took a stroll through the store a few days ago. just window shopping. :-)
i love your illustrations, you really capture the fun pottery barn feel! xo
I love looking through the Pottery Barn catalogs...so much eye candy. I love how you are turning the catalog pages into art journaling inspiration...great results!
Wow..this is really awesome! I have the attention span of a gnat..so your describing the many ideas and journals sounds familiar. I only know one knitting stitch and only make scarves, but I get bored with one yarn and so I'll start another scarf (same stitch, different yarn) and have 2 or 3 of these half-made scarves at one time!
This is really lovely and since I just went to PB on Saturday and decided I couldn't afford anything (the catalog was free!!)this would be awesome! Thanks! Can't wait to see more..
Seriously, you MUSH have (offer) a lettering class!!
What a great idea! Maybe a theme would get me to actually spend some time with my art journal. And I LOVE Pottery Barn too. Beautiful drawings!
what a beautiful journal...i love pottery barn's outdoor umbrellas, too!
PS - forgot to say how much i LOVE your handwriting! :)
This is awesome! You should have no problem filling this one up, though- so much great inspiration! I can't wait to see all the pages. I think the "Elvie Barn" catalog will be nice than the one that inspired it!
i'm just amazed at the way your brain works and how you seem to find such clever inspiration in so many places. i'm just starting out with my blog and hope you don't mind me lurking around yours for inspiration! i absolutely love your style!
this is so very nice done, love to see the work you made.
Lori, This is so clever and what a great feeling of accomplishment when you finish your "house!". Would love to purchase a journal like this from your Etsy site (hint, hint)...I'll bring the chocolate to your house-warming ;)
Thanks for sharing this abundance of inspiration! Hugs, Jeanette
I love Pottery Barn, but I love your art even more! I must make one of these journals!
what a lovely colorful inspiration journal!
WOW and double WOW. Once again you've made my jaw drop with your talent. You've inspired me to buy a watercolour pad (actually it's two on a buy one get one free offer) which will, no doubt sit on the shelf with all the other things to try items.
I agree with Colleen, you should do some tutorials for those who are not as creative as you most certainly are.
Margaret xx
I just LOVE your artwork...it makes me feel so happy:)
Yes, I do the same...make and purchse journals all the time. Then I do get around to filling them.....eventually!
Love your blog, it's been too long!
Ciao Bella!
CREATIVE CARMELINA
Themed journals rock! Btw!
Ciao again!
Muah!
I wish you could just SEE my face when I look at your artwork. I wouldn't have to say a thing because you'd read what I was thinking just from my amazed expression...I mean, sometimes my mouth is so far open...that if I were lucky enough to be near someone passing by with a bag of delicious chocolate truffles...he could just take aim and it would be a definite SURE SHOT from anywhere in the room! I'm loving your new journal, Lori. Your drawings are so charming and filled with such delicious color...and your lettering is just gorgeous! xoxo Paulette :)
i love YOU and everything you do!!!!! You soooo inspire me! Can we meet someday?? xoxoxo
What a great idea. LOVE Pottery Barn.
Love these journal pages. You always inspire me.Love the next post too with the drawer hardware. Neat.
Your designs are always so fresh and yet still maintain their Elvie quality....love the chimney emissions. :)
I made my first one of these last night. The video was very helpful! It took less than 30 minutes. I can tell right now that these are going to be addictive and perfect for special themes! I'm so happy you shared your journal and that link.
Oh I love what you are doing with these pages... they make me smile. :E)
