first bloom

every Spring i purchase a thriving lavender plant,
and usually by the middle of the Summer
it's withered away due to sweltering heat and my over-ambitious watering.

so this year, i took a different approach and decided to
let the plant tell me when it wanted water, and other plantly-type stuff.

i'm not harvesting fields of glorious blue-purple blooms just yet, but
my little lavender sweetie has produced its first heavenly-fragranced bloom,
so i'm celebrating on a page in my journal…..and shouting a big woo-hoo!
here's to you, Mother Nature!!

{supplies:  moleskine watercolor journal,  derwent inktense pencils,
koi watercolor, eagle falcon nib, 4B pencil}

SO happy for you! Both of mine bit the dust. :( I guess I'll try again next year. I'd love to have my own in the yard because blue flowers are so attractive.
I'm bloglovin you now!

Beautifully drawn lavender. They do like dry sandy soil for good drainage conditions. I just posted my visit to a Lavender Museum in France. Lavender Bliss Dear...

Absolutely, breathtakingly beautiful, I could almost smell the fragrance here. But maybe it's the one in my garden? I'll send you a photo :)

What size is your page please, Lori? I'm still trying to find the right size to use as I'm still not sure about my lettering. I write fairly small so have a problem with "going large" lol

hi margaret! this artwork was created in my moleskine watercolor journal…..it's about 8" x 5". there's a smaller journal available that's about 3.5 x 5.5", and i use that one when i want to write smaller. xox

Lori! This is an absolutely beautiful page! How do you develop your fonts! They are gorgeous! I just got my first batch wet dried & soaking in a jar of oil in the sun! Later I'll but them in small jars for my friends! Not enough to make wands yet, but still a nice was you share the bounty! Well, one small plant! ;)
