i (still) heart my mary janes

my footwear affair with my mary janes continues. i absolutely heart them. i know it sounds strange to be so attached to a pair of shoes, but they make me happy. so when my little-dutch-boy-santa treated me to these mary jane slippers as an early Christmas goodie, the happy continued.....and i mean, we're talking giddy-like-a-schoolgirl-jumping-up-and-down-kind-of-happy!

oh, and they come in girly pink, too. bring on the happy!!

train slippers

during a trip to japan a few years ago, walther and spencer were riding on the train, and spencer, while wearing his trendy slippers provided by japan rail, looked down and snapped a picture. it is still one of my all time favorite photos...and i knew that it would be a great addition to my drawn footwear series. so, spencie...here's to you kid! 

slippers, part deux

i just love it when i'm truly surprised by something...like how much i've been enjoying drawing these slippers. i think that i'll continue to use the pencil (versus ink or watercolor) because i really do love the results.  my only regret is that my scanner doesn't pick up on all of the subtleties in the shading...i'll have to work on that.

slippers

this is another pencil drawing that will go in the book that i'm making. i've been trying to work on my shading...it's very therapeutic and i love to hear the pencil scratching on the paper! my next step is to start incorporating some ink into my drawings. i feel like this is a slow process, and i'm flip-flopping around as i'm trying to "find my groove". with me, it's all about baby steps.
