i heart my mary janes

it's probably a little silly to be so attached to a pair of shoes, but i must confess that i love my mary janes.  i think that i've walked at least a million miles in these shoes.  i've been told that i need to give them up and wear something a little more "grown up", but instead i choose to replace the elastic under the buckles, for the fourth time now, so i can walk another million miles.  besides, grown up shoes hurt my feet.

i heart my mary janes so much that several months ago i took a drawing class and decided to use them as one of my models...and then make some note cards!

and to carry it one step further (good pun? bad pun?),  i just had to carve a mary janes stamp.  and this pair will never need to have the elastic replaced...

ADORABLE!! I have some mary jane docs that I love as well, don't let people talk you into grown up shoes, they are no fun!

Just love the Mary Janes. Keep on wearing them my dear. Besides, you are so right about the grown up shoes, they hurt the feet a lot.

The stamp is just a signature for you! Good idea.

Oh my gosh, Lori....I feel the same way about my *sniff* mary janes. I used to have a black pair and a red pair. LOVE. Unfortunately I bought the cheap kind and they wouldn't last through elastic replacement. :(
The notecards and stamp are SO adorable...they made me squeal!:)

What a great tribute to a pair of shoes. I painted my black runners(literally, painted on them), and the laces years ago when I was a teen even though they had holes and were just about falling off my feet. Can't beat a good pair of comfy shoes.

You know, that's how my jeans (featured in yesterday's post) became so patched. I just love them so much - I can't imagine replacing them!

Kate

I can't believe how good these May JAne's look after all that walking. And how did you manage to replace the elastic? Love the drawing and the stamp.

Hey its WAY better for the environment to repair your shoes than replace them, good work. You can use that as a reason for all those who say you need 'grown up shoes' The stamp is very cute. You are addicted to making stamps arent you?!

The cards are so cute! And the stamp--wow! You've outdone yourself again! I love taking pictures of feet and shoes today--they tell an important story.

By the way, I'd like to know exactly what "grown up shoes" are?

that should have said "too" instead of "today"

Please tell me this stamp is for sale-right NOW?! I need it.

I am the "ugly shoe girl" in our little clique. Mary Jane's are my fancy shoes, I pull them out when Birkenstock sandals just won't do!

How great. Your mary janes remind me of junior high when Dr. Martens were all the rage. I especially love the little stamp of said MJs.

You've got me inspired. I'm going to go cute me up some stamps...any ideas on what I should make?

Found you through Anne Gaal, and your Mary Janes gives me a fantastic idea. Who doesn't have a favourite pair of shoes? I also want to set up a link to you on my own little blog if that is okay.

I so love your artwork and creativity in all things. I will definitely be back!
