sign language

just when you're feeling your paint palette has
a little too much blah and too much blue....

i'm here to remind sweet, artful you.....

that you are a shining star,
a-okay awesome,
and majorly magnificent.....

and the signs are all around you to confirm it!

{p.s. and by-the-way.....you rock, fabulous art-girl!!}

stand up eight

i've been on a path to better watercolor the past couple of years,
and that means practice, practice, practice.
but i've noticed that after all that practice,
some days (actually many days!) it doesn't seem to look much better!

so i decided to switch gears and open my long-lost walls notebook....

....and remind myself of some really good advice:

if at first you don't succeed....

try, try again!

looks like it's time to get my paintbrush back out.....
but oh, how i love my walls notebook!!
 :))

inspiration monday

sometimes when you're stuck for inspiration….

all you need to do is seek out what you know to be true…..

…..and let your heart lead the way….

and the big picture will reveal itself.

guaranteed!

inspiration monday

i'm a firm believer that inspiration can be found anywhere.

all you have to do is think about what makes you really happy…..

and most of all,
follow your heart.

and before you know it,  the doors of inspiration will open to you
where you didn't even know they existed!

inspiration monday

i'm a firm believer that when it comes to finding inspiration….

sometimes it helps to get as far away as possible from
all this busyness going on around us.

and while i'm not really very good at it,
i think it also means just resting for a while.

so i'm going to take mr. buchanan's advice…..

and recharge my creative batteries back to the "fully alive" level!

i'll be away from blogland for the next few weeks,
so i'll be posting some of my favorite elvie-encore-posts while i'm gone….

see you soon, dear, sweet, bloggy friends!!

inspiration monday

if spring hasn't quite sprung in your part of the world yet,
and the skies are still looking a little gray…..

here's some words of wisdom from someone who
knows how to make people smile.

all you need to do is channel all your good thoughts…..

you know…...the really over-the-top, super cheery thoughts!

and then say bye-bye to gray skies,
and let those smile-sunbeams inspire an absolutely lovely day!

(quite possibly the most sugary, pollyanna-coated post i've written to date!
but sometimes "happy" just goes that way!  :))

inspiration monday

when it comes to sowing an artful canvas….

just plant some sweet seeds of inspiration from the heart.
(make sure they're the best of the best!)

then add some leaf images using your favorite hand-carved stamp…..

and tuck in a cute little sleeping bunny.

now let patience, and lots of imagination take over….

and you'll be rewarded with a delicious art harvest of golden creativity!

beautiful you

there's an awful lot of "same-ness" in the world.....

but, before you put a lot of energy into being different.....

just remember -----
you already, most beautifully, and fantabulously are!

{and you even have your very own unique thumbprints to prove it!}

here's to being different.....
in the most amazing, extraordinary, phenomenal, fantastic, unique way possible!!
(and believe me, you're all these things and so much more!)

inspiration monday

when it comes to reaching for the stars,

one of the great star-reachers himself shines some light on the subject :

we can use a little step-stool and a butterfly net to catch a barely-off-the-ground,
dimly lit star in the sky.....

or we can really go for it, and climb a taller-than-tall ladder and use our glorious rubber-band-stretchy arms to grab the biggest, shiniest, brightest, sparkliest, farthest-away star in the galaxy!

let's add some major bling to our twinkle collection.....
and guaranteed, inspiration will be right there to nudge us along
every step of the way!

{completed in my walls notebook using pitt artist pens, derwent inktense pencils, pan pastel, 8B graphite pencil, uniball signo white gel pen}

{happy labor day! xox}
