return of the blank slate

one of the best ways to find out if you really love doing something is to not do it for a while. with our recent move, it's been about 5 weeks since i've made a new journal....and i've really missed it. there's something about sloshing glue across paper that makes me feel like a kid in art class again (and something about the smell that can make me a little woozy after a while!).

the gathering of supplies, the poking of holes in paper, and the sewing it together with waxed linen thread immediately takes me to one of my all-time favorite places....my comfort zone!

and finally after a little glue and a little stitching....the return of the "blank slate" watercolor journal! it's been a while since my etsy shop has seen one of these....and i absolutely loved making it!
you can read more information about this journal here

Hi Lori! Gina is so right, even your blank books are beautiful! They are so meticulously put together. How did it feel to make something in your gorgeous new studio? I'll bet REALLY WONDERFUL!

loving the idea, name and look of your "blank slate" journal, lori! and i agree that being away from something tells a story all its own; kind of that absence makes the heart grow fonder kind of thing.

enjoying seeing you working away in your new art room!!!!

Can't wait to see what you do with that empty space... Isn't it a tickle in your soul to be the one that pours their spirit on a page.

Lovin' your new journal Lori! I haven't used the one I got from you yet...it is still wrapped up and waiting. I will use it though soon. I am saving it for something very special! I will bet you are loving your new studio and it has to be nice to have all that space to create in!

Whoa, Girlfriend, you are making me worry there with your woozy glue-ey feelings!

But Hooray for the Comfy Zone! So glad you got back to it. Nothing like some distance to make you appreciate what moves you. ;)

Hugs,

Kate

Mmm love the crisp freshness of this one. I think Id keep it as a 'minimalist' art object and not write anything in it ;)

I come via DJ Pettitt's blog; I stopped at this post because I agree that sometimes you have to put something away to see if you really love it. I am in the process of putting my paints away (I will keep one out just in case I need to add it somewhere). However, I will be trying out another medium for while. I can tell you put much love in your journals.

Well, I haven't finished a good painting for about a year. I've done a couple of nice ones, but I just can't get back into it. Part of it is that while we are living with in-laws, I don't have my own space. Maybe when we have our own house...
