winter wimp

the temperature gauge in my car gave me polite notice this morning that it was only 30 degrees outside.....and i live in florida!!! now i know that all of my friends who live anywhere north of the georgia/florida state line aren't exactly rushing to play a sad song on their violins.....you peeps up north know what cold really means.....but keep in mind that my floridian skin gets a little nervous when the mercury on the thermometer starts dropping past 50! i'll admit it.....i'm a winter wimp. and i'm oh so thankful for every mug of hot chocolate i can get my hands around (and those mini marshmallows floating around on top sure do make the package complete).
baby, it's beyond COLD outside.....so get out your winter coats, gloves, mittens, long underwear, scarves, ear muffs, those gel handwarmer things that the roving beer and peanuts concession men at football games carry around, electric blankets, and favorite slippers.....make a big pot of hot cocoa.....throw another log of wood on the fire.....plug in your favorite movie....and snuggle up with your sweetie.
being a winter wimp definitely has its advantages!

Didn't you hear? Thermal underwear is the new sexy lingerie line at Victoria's Secret up here in Massachusetts! I'm laughing (& crying) at the same time.

Mmmm... why not add some of those choco-bits from your last post to your hot cocoa with marshmallows? *slurp*

We've been so cold here in NC. We're thinking we should have moved further south, like BELIZE! :)

Pssst... your studio-cleaning bug got to me today. Now I have room to move in my Clay Nation.

hugs,

Kate

my in-laws are on their way down there... they go down to florida every winter from january through march. we were talking on monday (they left yesterday) that it's so cold down there right now! they have a motor home and stay at the same spots each year. i know they go to orlando (relatives there) and they also do the keys and ponte gorda area.
it is brrrrrr cold here in PA but we are used to that during january. used to it, but not liking it (that's me, anyway!) i prefer spring. :-)
bundle up and stay warm lori! your cold snap won't last as long as ours! LOL
hugs, patty :-)

Hasn't it been super cold?!? We are freezing up here in Savannah - and have you noticed that houses in the south aren't built for cold weather? I'm walking around the house always carrying a blanket and hot water bottle. And we might get snow. SNOW!!! Crazy!! Stay warm! Love, Silke

Well our daytime highs have struggled to hit freezing since before New Year's and it's supposed to stay that way for at least the next ten days, night temps are in the teens. While I understand your dismay at the temperatures in Florida rest assured that your spring will arrive well before ours! It'll all be over soon sweet Lori!

I live in SC and we are freezing too and we might get snow on Friday! I'm sitting on my couch, with my biggest blanket trying to stay warm. Hot chocolate sounds so yummy...

Hi Lori,
Yes, I know what you mean- a few years of living in the South and it's easy to become a 'winter wimp' after 20+ years I am officially a wimp. LOL! . . . . snuggling is great though - perhaps they should make it an Olympic sport.

Lori...I don't think you've ever been funnier! I laughed out loud when I read all this! Don't forget a nice warm hat, one with those floppy ear parts that hang down...heck, who cares what we look like when it's frrrreezing! I sure hope the farmers are putting blankets on all those poor orange trees too! xoxo

Ohhh, c'moooon, 30F is just right for the winter. The 5F that we had before Christmas - that was freaking cold!

It's cold here in South Carolina, too. I moved down from Massachsetts (and long thermal underwear) (I feel bad for you, Gina!!) for a reason, and it followed me down!! These last 6 years or so have made me a winter wimp, too! :) Brrrrr

I have had an electric heater going most of the day. I love my old house, with it's old wood floors, but I can feel the cold through them!! I guess I am needing some more insulation!!! I actually thought about thermal underwear, but with the additional layer underneath I could not button my jeans!!!!!!!!

i'm cold just looking at it.

"honey! I need to snuggle!!!!" he's gotta be around here somewhere.....

You know something is wrong when you can't go to Florida to get warm in the winter!!! I hope you're keeping warm!

I'm right there with you, Lori. I've been asking my "Northerner" friends what I'm supposed to wear! Starbucks helps. And time spent wandering around heated stores like Target and Hobby Lobby. {Well, it gets my toddler and me out of the house.}

On the news up here (in Canada) we've seen the frozen oranges and the iguanas falling out of trees. Shocked me, but then I remembered that it has happened in other years. Dress in layers and bundle up.

Oh Lori,
Having lived in Florida, and then now back in Wisconsin is killing me.
Do you know what I always say to my hubby?.. "Wisconsin is a place for the penguins to live", it is 15 degrees here and will be that for the next five months..
I know when I lived in SW.Florida, I and natives would put our sweatshirts on if it even remotely got down to 70!
I used to laugh at them and myself.
We are planning a move and I am not too sure where it will be?.. but by far.. Florida is the warmest state!
keep that cup handy for more hot chocolate! Hugs, Darlene xo
