here's a cool trick that i learned while taking mary ann moss' online stencilry class:
take a photo (i'm using black and white)......
and play with the filter>artistic options in photoshop......and eventually you end up with a stencil cut-out version of your photo!
{note: i may have played a little too long, because for some reason i ended up with only half of one eyebrow, no nose, and partial lips......please refer to previous photo to confirm that i actually possess these things.....}
while mary ann takes the photoshopped image and creates a stencil from it, i decided to do something a little different and carve a stamp (i had to draw in a chin and neck to keep myself from looking totally hopeless.....again, please see previous photo)
and then i used it to create one of my "15 minute" journal pages! total fun!!
(p.s. if you love to play with stencils, i highly recommend mary ann's class....it's loaded with great information, and she's a great teacher!)

I love your spin on creating a one-of-a-kind stamp and your carving skills are excellent. And it looks like you used your newly created stamp right away...I wouldn't have been able to wait long either.
I took Mary Ann's class last year, but was too busy with summer to invest a lot of time or thought into it. I LOVE your idea of making a rubber stamp that way! Brilliant. Thanks for sharing!
What a great idea! I will someday make stamps, I will...!
Super Cool! :)

Cool effects. I love playing in photoshop (or GIMP which is a free similar program). I learn something new about it every day.
Great job on the journal page.

great great technique and what a journal page. Hugs
Hey Lori,
I just left you a comment on your etsy because I received my new blank journal from you. Lori it is beautiful and I can;t wait to get started in it. Tell me where did you learn to do the stitching - can you guide me to a video - I have a huge journal I just finished and it has been sitting "unbound" for a while now while I search for how to stitch it up. Any help is appreciated.
BTW - that one eyebrow may become a new fashion statement!!!
Cathy
