patience, faith, and gifts

the sea does not reward those who are too anxious,
too greedy, or too impatient.
to dig for treasures shows not only impatience and greed,
but lack of faith.
patience, patience, patience, is what the sea teaches.
patience and faith.
one should lie empty, open, choiceless as a beach -
waiting for a gift from the sea.

Oops, I'm afraid I might fall under the greedy category when it comes to bringing home loot from the sea - my hoodie pockets are often overflowing with shells after a beach outing. But if I turn these shells into gifts for others, could this excuse my childishness? I'm definitely guilty of sometimes letting the inner child take over.

dearest one, this message was a divine gift to me...leading, encouraging, whisper-reminding me.
of course i stop to place my palms facing up & breathe more calmly now. it is worth it for the sea.
thank you. xox

A wonderful quote. I used to love the books by Anne M. Lindbergh, such a strong woman and such a beautiful style of writing. Also, the photo fits well. And these words - so true, yet unpopular in our greedy times ...

I love that photo! I so wish our beaches had that many shells. Well, on the other hand, in Florida they did, and as a kid I never liked walking on the beach cuz those shells hurt my feet!

I like that. Very interesting. I love going to the beach when I need to get away which is the whole reason why I am trying to get my little rickety motorhome up and running again. She's pretty much ready with exception to the air vents.

The water is very calming for me. It's been a long time. I am inspired by this entry. Maybe I can take a drive up there in the van in the meantime.

Those beautiful shells are such lovely gifts from the sea! I spotted one with a hole on top, just waiting to become a necklace. I hope a little girl finds that one!... Such a pretty photo and post, Lori! xoxo Paulette

How perfect a post! I am at the beach for VACA. Actually not too far from you, I think. we are staying at a beach house on Atlantic Beach. Aren't you in Ponte Vedra? My cousins took us to a downtown outdoor art walk this morn and I saw the turn off to Ponte Vedra. Thought of you.
Hugs,
Tara
