inspiration monday

"throughout the ages there were men who took first steps down new roads
armed with nothing but their own vision" ayn rand

every time i think about someone walking down a new road without a map, it's pure inspiration to me. because if you think about it, isn't that really what we're doing each time we open our journal and stare at that blank page, or pull out a fresh canvas, or rustle through our fabric stash? every mark on the page, stroke on the canvas, and stitch on the fabric is like a brand new step......the materials may be familiar, but what we do with them is a little different each time we venture out. many times we don't have a clue where we're going, and sometimes the road gets a little bumpy, but as long as we have faith in the creative process, we'll get to where we're supposed to be.
so, march on sweet bloggy artist friend.....march on!!!

journal page finished using pitt "shades of gray" markers

it makes me think about how people got around without much guidance like we do nowadays. it's nice to enjoy the creative process without knowing where it will lead. thanks for the inspiration.

That is the perfect thought for me today as I am doing something I've not tried before. I am taking a class called "Tell a Story in Stitches" and I'm definitely out of my comfort zone. More on my blog later, but just wanted to thank you for a great, inspirational and gentle kick in the pants!

Very interesting and thought provoking journal page. I am so not good with maps and maybe that is why I draw such a blank at times with my creativity. Happy creating...

Love this - and even if others have traveled down that road, it's new for us - and even if I have piece of a map (like a class or something) I always take a round about way to get there. :)

beautiful quote! and i love what you said about going down a new road without a map. i've always been an explorer, literally! i love going down little side roads just to see where they lead me. :-) come to think of it, i guess i do that in my art as well...since i can't seem to stay focused on one thing for too long!

Life is like a road map because you just keep taking one step at a time and you don't know where it is going to take you. I love your drawing and it is what I needed before I head out the door to work. have a wonderful day.
