listen

listen to your heart.

i hear my heart speaking to me all the time, but i must admit that i don't always listen to what it's saying. and i've learned over the years that if there's one thing about hearts, it's that they definitely know what they're talking about.
lately my heart has been urging me to take a rest......and i've been resisting because resting isn't something that i do very easily. but the truth is that resting is probably one of the nicest gifts we can give ourselves.
so today i'm going to listen to my heart.
and i'm gifting myself permission to rest.
and probably eat some chocolate.
(maybe this will be easier than i thought.....)

i'll be back next week.....and i'll miss you!! xoxo

still listening

to follow up on the ACEO that i made several days ago (you can read about that here), this is a small lettering piece done on turquoise canson paper.  the lettering was made using dr. martin's bleedproof, along with my favorite pointed calligraphy nib that's been used so much, that i can no longer read the brand name!  the heart was cut from a piece of paste paper that i've "distressed" and sewn a large "X" using fuchsia cotton thread.  i like the way this turned out, but i'm thinking about doing it again using different letterforms and different colors.  i also have several book projects rolling around in my head, so we'll see where re-doing this project falls on my priority list...my intentions are good, anyway!   click on photo for larger image

listen

it's been a while since i've added to my "so true" collection of art cards.  i really enjoy working in this 2.5 x 3.5" format and i think it's because my style is more "keep it simple" (although sometimes i think it keep it too simple, but that's an entirely different blog post).  anyway, i chose to add this to my series because it occurs to me from time to time that i don't do nearly enough listening. i recently read that it's easy to confuse listening with just waiting for your turn to talk.  and, oh yes, i definitely have the talking part mastered.  it's the being still and the listening that i'm still working on....especially to my heart.
