meet the thumbuds

i think that creating artwork is just like having little babies.  we give birth to new ideas, nurture them, watch them grow......and sooner or later, we take a deep breath and let them go out into the world.  such is the case with my little "thumbuds".  these little guys have been a part of me since i was in school and doodling in my spiral notebooks in class (instead of listening to the teacher....)......

and now all of these (many) years later, they've reappeared in a more sophisticated form.....on notecards.... and they're ready to go out into the world!  if you're interested in adopting any of these little sweeties, they're currently hanging out in my etsy shop.  their main goal is to put a smile on your face, and they're fairly easy to take of.....as long as you have a steady supply of dark chocolate on hand when mealtime rolls around.....

happy weekend to you!!!

inspiration monday

you are a beautiful artist.

there's no one else like you.
you have been blessed with a unique talent...
and no one else can create art the way you create.
not the other artists in magazines,
or the other artists on blogs,
or the other artists in museums.

it's you.....
beautiful, blessed, unique, talented you....
creating art exactly the way you were meant to create.....

straight from your heart.

tiny dancer

i received a comment the other day from elise over at ballet news......
she was wondering if i would create a little dancer, thumb-style.
what a fabulous idea....and a great challenge!
so here's my tiny dancer, striking a pose that might not be an actual ballet movement,
but in my doodle brain, this is what i imagined!

thank you for inspiring me, elise!!

be creative

being a happy person doesn't mean that you're void of problems.
believe me, i have them. actually, i have lots of them.
but i also have a choice. i have a choice of how i react to them.
i try to handle them the best i can, in the most positive way i can.
this approach doesn't always work, but that's what i aim for.
do i get bummed sometimes? yep.
frustrated, irritated? yep, yep.
do i want to be bummed, frustrated & irritated? nope, nope & nope.
therefore, i create.
because being creative makes me happy.

be creative=be happy.

p.s. thank you so much for the sweet birthday wishes you sent my dad!! xox
