this week i worked on a project for an online class that i took from claudine hellmuth called "home is where the art is"
this project includes 12 different mixed media techniques using her sticky back canvas and other products in her studio line. but the nice part is that if you don't have a certain product, she provides another option...and i always love to know i have options! as most of you know, working with paint and other paint-type materials is not exactly in my comfort zone, but claudine's fresh style and easy instructions made this a project that even i could do!
one of the nicest things about this project is that it was so easy to make it "my own". i decided that i would use our new house as the focal point (our move-in date is two weeks from today...yippeee!). while i still used some of claudine's images, i changed a few to reflect our new house. for example, the house image is a rendering of our new house, the text block is an excerpt of our house contract, there's a butterfly outline to represent transformation, the number "179" is our house number, and of course, i had to sneak in a heart-in-hand image!
thanks, claudine...this was a really fun project and i learned a lot! you can read more about this online class here!

I love it, Lori! What a great project. I took one of Claudine's classes a few years back when she came to A Small Cleverness. She was a great teacher. I even had lunch with her!
Your house is super! I think you did a wonderful job on it. Love your new home also....yay!
Lori, you used some really great colours. Wow you look like you got a whole lotta house - I love it. It looks massive. How many washrooms do you have to clean?;-)
wow! it's fantastic. i particularly like how the individual "tiles" are held together. i thought i recognized your new house. so exciting to be moving in 2 weeks. i'm off to check out the class.
i adore this, lori!
i am moving RIGHT NOW!
AAAAAAAAAAAACK! i took a break for some cheese and juice (the snack of champions) and a little online time. :) i hope your move goes smoothly and quickly! mine is going....well, quickly!
hugs to you, sweets. :)
It's gorgeous! I love that you added your heart in hand image and made it your very own. Congrats on the house, I'm looking forward to the move in party! :)
Cute house, love the colors you used and your new house looks great too!
Looks like a fun class! I admire how you personalized it and made it your own. I think you've inspired others to try a class like that.
This is about the cutest thing I have ever seen!! I saw that tutorial by claudine and thought about doing it. SO CUTE!!!
I like your house, what fun! I've been wanting to experiment with that sticky back canvas.
I love how you hooked everything together.
Such a cute house Lori, love the hearts. I'm a heart girl too. Have a great day!
This turned out fantastic!
Your style is so distinct no matter the medium and I love that! What a lovely little piece of art! I am so excited for you to move into your pretty new home!
nice job! I love that you did so many personalizations! i'm sure it'll look great in your new home!
Hmmm, I've never taken an online class before. After looking at your project, I may have to think about it. I love houses, hands and birds -- my favorites are all in this piece. And I've never heard of sticky back canvas. I'm very curious now.
Oh Lori! What a beautiful piece--a creative way to anticipate and welcome your new home. Using the contract was clever. You did a superb job.
p.s. I took this class too! How did we miss that?
I just love your happiness home Lori! Wonderful, beautiful job!!!
